You can complete these 39-credit DNP programs online in about two years of full-time study. The program consists of online courses and only one in-person executive session that is completed in your last course the week of graduation. The DNP is a terminal professional degree that emphasizes ongoing evidence based advanced clinical practice, clinical, systems, and policy leadership rather than research or teaching in higher education. While you can perform research as a DNP, the roles you pursue are much more likely to be “hands on”.
