Student Health Insurance Plan

All full-time undergraduate students, ABSN, DEMSN, and MSOT students are required to have medical health insurance. During the Fall semester, students are automatically enrolled through the University’s insurance policy (for current rates, contact the Bursar's Office).

If you already have outside coverage and would like to opt out of the University’s coverage, you can fill out a waiver through the insurance carrier’s website. Once approved a waiver for the health insurance charge will be added to your billing account within 24-48 hours, which cancels out the original charge.

Deadlines 
All waivers for the Fall semester must be completed before September 11 or you will automatically be charged the insurance fee for the year. 

All waivers for the Spring semester must be completed before February 11 or you will automatically be charged the insurance fee for the semester. 

All waivers for the Summer semester (for ABSN and new MSOT students) must be completed before June 11 or you will automatically be charged the insurance fee for the year.

The waivers must be completed online, and you will need to provide proof of coverage. You will need to know your date of birth, seven-digit student ID number,* and your current health insurance card information. This number can be found on your billing invoice in the top right corner.

Please be careful not to confuse this insurance waiver with the proof of insurance that is required for athletes or when moving into a residence hall. Even when you provide proof of insurance in those instances, you will still need to complete the insurance waiver or you will automatically be charged the annual cost of the University’s insurance.

*New students will receive their GMercyU Student ID number once they are registered for their courses. You will need to register for courses prior to completing the health insurance waiver, as the insurance charge is not added to your account until you are registered as a Full time student.
