Spring 2024

For Cabrini students who choose to transfer to GMercyU in spring 2024, we will:

  • Waive the admissions essay
  • Waive Letters of recommendation
  • Waive GRE or MAT scores (for graduate programs that request/require them)

We also will:

  • Provide an undergraduate financial aid package that results in no additional out-of-pockets costs
    • Add an extra $500 Undergraduate Cabrini Transfer Grant for spring
  • Accept as many Cabrini undergraduate credits as possible into an equivalent major at GMercyU

How Can I Transfer?

As a preferred partner school, we are working with Cabrini to make the transfer process as easy as possible for you. Here’s all you need to do:

  • Submit a GMercyU undergraduate application 
    When you get to the essay prompt, simply type "Cabrini transfer student".
  • Send Official Transcripts from Cabrini University (and any other colleges attended) to GMercyU
  • Add Gwynedd Mercy University to your 2024-2025 FAFSA

Summer 2024 and Fall 2024

For Cabrini students who enroll at GMercyU in Summer or Fall 2024 as part of the Teach Out Agreement, we will support you in completing the remaining requirements of your Cabrini degree at GMercyU.

This means we will:

  • Accept all Cabrini credits into an equivalent program at GMercyU
  • Carry over your Cabrini GPA
  • Waive GMercyU’s Acceptance Deposit

We also will:

  • Waive the admissions application essay
  • Waive Letters of recommendation
  • Waive GRE or MAT scores (for graduate programs that request/require them)
  • Provide an undergraduate aid package that results in no additional out-of-pockets

For Executive Doctorate in Education (EdD) Students

As a designated Cabrini partner, we are offering an expedited admission process to provide Cabrini EdD students a smooth transition to GMercyU.

Spring 2024

As a Cabrini EdD student in good standing looking to transfer for Spring 2024, GMercyU will:

  • Accept up to 27 transfer credits (half of 54 credits required to earn your GMercyU degree)
  • Waive the GRE or MAT
  • Waive Letters of Reference
  • Waive the Writing Sample

Application Requirements - Spring 2024

To apply to GMercyU’s EdD program for spring 2024, students who are actively enrolled or on leave and in good standing in Cabrini’s EdD program must provide the following materials:

  • A completed application (please use this application form, just for Cabrini graduate students)
  • CV showing education and professional experience
  • Official graduate transcripts
  • Written statement of professional goals and research interests
  • A personal interview with GMercyU’s Director of Doctoral Studies in Education, which may be conducted prior to or after submission of the above materials, at the student’s preference.
    • In the personal interview, the Director shall:
      • Discuss the student’s goals in a doctoral program and in their career
      • Explain how our program works and how it is different from others so the student can decide if it is a good fit
      • Review the student’s completed and in-process coursework
      • Determine transfer credit toward Gwynedd Mercy’s EdD program
      • Discuss the student’s progress in dissertation research 
         
Application Deadline - Spring 2024

Completed application: February 6, 2024
Deposit deadline: $500 non-refundable deposit due by February 7, 2024
Program starts: February 26, 2024

Continued Dissertation Research Support

Students who choose to transfer in spring 2024 and have already started work on their dissertation can schedule a personal meeting with the Methodologist/Dissertation Coordinator. To keep your dissertation on track, the Methodologist/Dissertation Coordinator will:

  • Assist students in transitioning up to the first three chapters of their dissertation
  • Explore opportunities to allow Cabrini students to continue their research under the direction of a Cabrini faculty member if so desired

OR

  • Appoint a dissertation advisor/chair to provide guidance that honors the work already done
Summer or Fall 2024

EdD students who choose to transition to GMercyU in summer or fall 2024 through the GMercyU-Cabrini Teach Out program will complete their remaining Cabrini requirements and can continue working with their current dissertation chair. 

Students will be charged 2023-2024 Cabrini tuition rates and be responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and paying out of pocket if they attend the Ireland residency.

For Graduate Education Students

As a preferred Cabrini partner, we are offering an expedited admission process to provide Cabrini graduate education students a smooth transition to GMercyU.

Spring 2024

As a Cabrini graduate education student in good standing, GMercyU will:

  • Accept up to 15 transfer credits for a Master’s degree or 50 percent of certification coursework for students not pursuing a master’s degree
  • Waive letters of reference
  • Waive the writing sample

Deadlines:

    • Completed application: January 12, 2024
    • Deposit deadline: $500 non-refundable deposit by January 17, 2024
    • Program starts: January 29, 2024

Summer or Fall 2024

Students who choose to transition to GMercyU in summer or fall 2024 through the GMercyU-Cabrini Teach Out program will complete the remaining requirements of their Cabrini program and will pay the equivalent of 2023-2024 Cabrini tuition costs.

Students who are actively enrolled or on leave and in good standing in an equivalent Cabrini program must provide the following materials:

  • A completed application (please use this application form, just for Cabrini graduate students)
  • Resume/CV showing education and professional experience
  • Official graduate and undergraduate transcripts from all institutions attended

As a preferred Cabrini partner, we are offering an expedited admission process to provide Cabrini MBA students a streamlined transition to GMercyU.

Spring 2024

As a Cabrini Master of Business Administration student in good standing, GMercyU will:

  • Accept up to 15 transfer credits toward your MBA degree
  • Waive letters of recommendation

Summer or Fall 2024

MBA students who choose to transition in summer or fall 2024 through the GMercyU-Cabrini Teach Out program will complete the remaining requirements of their Cabrini program and will pay the equivalent of 2023-2024 Cabrini tuition costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spring 2024

Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. Some programs require a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students must be meeting the academic requirements of their program in order for us to accept all transfer credits.  Your dedicated Admissions Counselor will guide you through the process.


Summer or Fall 2024

Students must be in good academic standing at the end of the 2023-24 academic year to transition to an equivalent program at GMercyU.  As part of the Teach Out Agreement, you will complete the remaining requirements of your Cabrini degree at GMercyU.

Spring 2024: Your Cabrini GPA will not transfer to GMercyU.

Summer or Fall 2024: As part of the Teach Out Agreement, your Cabrini GPA will transfer to GMercyU.

Yes. GMercyU will match your financial aid package so that your out-of-pocket costs remain the same. For example, if you are paying $20,000 out of pocket to attend Cabrini University, you will pay $20,000 to attend GMercyU.

Please add GMercyU to your 2023-2024 FAFSA.   

If you did not file a FAFSA and do not plan to file one for the 2023-2024 academic year, we will need a copy of your current Cabrini financial aid award offer letter.  If your financial award letter includes your social security number, please black it out.

If you are applying for summer or fall 2024, Cabrini will send us an official copy of your Cabrini University transcripts. 

If you are applying for spring 2024, please send us an official copy of your Cabrini Transcripts (and transcripts from any other colleges or universities attended).

Once we have received your application and your official transcripts, we will provide an admissions decisions within two weeks.

Our coaches will do everything they can to offer you a spot on the GMercyU team that matches your current team.  Please add your name to the NCAA Division III transfer portal and send an email to the coach.  GMercyU Coach Information is located here: https://gwyneddathletics.com.

Yes. We are happy to welcome Cabrini Honors Program students into GMercyU's Honors Program.  We will align completed Cabrini Honors courses with the requirements of GMercyU's Honors Program.  

Yes, we should be able to house you in one of our three residence halls, which are just steps from our academic buildings and dining hall! We just completed a full renovation of Loyola Hall, and all residential students have access to lightning-fast Wi-Fi, so it’s a great time to live on campus!

Accepted students who want to live on campus simply need to submit a Housing Application and Housing Deposit. More information and instructions will be included in your acceptance packet.

Yes. Cabrini's ECG course learning outcomes are similar to GMercyU's Signature Seminar course learning outcomes. For students who choose to transfer in spring 2024, we will accept up to two ECG courses to meet our two-course (6 credits) Signature Seminar requirement. If you have taken more than 6 credits in ECG courses, you can apply another 3 credits to an open elective.

Your admissions counselor can provide specific details once we have received your application and transcripts.   

Students who transition to GMercyU in fall 2024 as part of the Teach Out program will complete whatever credits remain within their Cabrini curriculum.
